Who knew the World's Fair in 1982 was actually in Knoxville, TN???  Well, I know now that I am here.  The site is dominated by the sunsphere (Figure 1) that is now a trademark of the city.

You can go up to the sunsphere's grimy observation deck (the windows need to be seriously cleaned) on an elevator that takes necessary precautions (Figure 2).  From there, you get a wrap-around view of the city.

In all honesty, the rest of the park, which once hosted 11 million people, is now just an empty field with a war memorial dedicated to the East Tennessee soldiers who died for the country:

Around the park, there are also some pretty flowers blooming, but they don't exactly compare to the ones from the Chicago Botanic Garden...

Tip: Going up the sunsphere is free, so go up and take a look!  Otherwise, the park is a bit anti-climatic...
