Singapore Botanic Gardens
Today is Thursday so I'm going to throwback to some months ago when I was still in Singapore. One day, I just wandered around the city with a friend who currently lives in the city, and we ended up walking through the gorgeous Singapore Botanic Gardens. It is a sprawling park where a number of Singaporeans and tourists go to enjoy the fresh air.
But the highlight is certainly the National Orchid Garden, which sprawls across an entire three hectares atop the tallest hill in the botanic gardens.
This orchid garden displays a whopping 600+ species of orchids! I had never seen this many types in one place before! It was just stunning!
The orchids are separated in four color zones, each representing a different season. Even the surrounding plants match the seasons!
- The admission to the botanic gardens is free, but for the National Orchid Garden, the admission is $5 for adults and just $1 for students and those older than 60. So bring your student ID (foreign ones are ok)! Oh, and free for children!
- This would be a fun place for a picnic with friends/family or a good place for a cheap date!
- Wear some good walking shoes - the botanic garden is huge.
